FOUR LANES END GARDEN CLUB P. O. Box 434 Langhorne, Pennsylvania 19047 |
Garden of the Week - August 3, 2008305 Prospect Avenue
Residence of Charles Lauble
This amazing garden hosts every known flora and fauna that can be grown in Langhorne! The Lauble Family have been Langhorne farmers for as many generations as one can remember and Charlie continues to uphold family traditions by growing his bountiful garden from seed every season, starting his crop early in the growing cycle in his backyard greenhouse.
The overflowing front gardens are complete with many specimens of impatiens, marigold, black-eyed Susan's, hostas, day lilies, foxglove, roses, sunflowers, azaleas, and Charlie's prized zinnias (Charlie has cultivated an unusual variety of zinnia called peppermint zinnia that has wonderful color variegations).
The backyard garden devotes much space to Charlie's abundant vegetable garden, which includes many varieties of peas, peppers, eggplant, zucchini, squash and tomatoes. The neat and orderly rows of produce are accented by Charlie's home grown flowers in a colorful border that surrounds the harvest plantings.
Thanks to owner, Charles Lauble for providing the pictures.
