FOUR LANES END GARDEN CLUB P. O. Box 434 Langhorne, Pennsylvania 19047 |
Garden of the Week - August 17, 2008330 Station Avenue
Residence of Romaine and Bill Macht
The crisp, formal lines of several unusual varieties of boxwood accent the classic,
brick facade of this stately home. The boxwood was acquired via cuttings from the
family's ancestral farm, located north of Harrisburg. In operation for over 120 years,
the farm produces corn and soybeans, in addition to this tight growing boxwood specimen.Other unusual flora found in the garden includes moon flower plants that bloom in the
evenings, spider plants and huge crape myrtles situated throughout the landscape. The kitchen garden includes sage, basil, lavender and an abundantly growing rosemary
plant that defies the hardiness zone for the cultivar!Langhorne residents for over 50 years, the Macht family has established a garden
will continue to astound visitors for many generations to come!
